The song of the show…Still Me

Just before dawn.

West Wittering beach.

Chilly. Deserted. Beautiful.

Sarah sings Still Me as rose and gold and crimson hues bleed into the sky.

Cinematographer Luke Koch de Gooreynd herds us up and down and in and out of the dunes and groynes, amidst sharp intakes of breath and choruses of shrieks as waves wash over paddling feet.

Dotty the-most-adorable-dog-in-the-world watches us all bewildered, probably wondering how on earth she has found herself on a Sussex beach in the dawn light. And then she gets to join in and play. Stealing the show.

A song of love, of the fear of love lost, of whether to survive, with the beautiful cast playing, laughing and contemplating this most stunning of landscapes. Job done.

As the dog-walkers and day trippers start to arrive, we depart, feeling we have done a day’s work already. Apart from Luke who, London boy that he is, has to stay for a dip in the sea.

Sand in our hair, eyes, shoes - and paws - we head off to start the rest of the day. Dotty…well, Dotty snoozes all the way home, dreaming no doubt of her strange and rather magical scamper along the finest golden sand.
